I know, I know: School Supply Shopping! We were having so much summer fun… but it’s inevitable. It has to be done. Personally, I usually get it done by mid-July, then I don’t have to worry about last minute details. Here are some tips to help take the stress out of school supply shopping:

parents shoppingReuse! – If you have items that can be re-used, use them! Notebooks, binders, pens, pencils, etc. There really isn’t any reason why you have to buy new every year.

To Theme or Not to Theme – Your child may want Barbie or Transformers but if you choose to go that route, do so with caution! It WILL be more costly to go with themed items and they are less likely to be willing to use them again next year.

Stock Up –  If you find a great deal on notebooks, pencils, pens, etc., stock up! Your child will need school supply refills during the year.

Use Sale Flyers –  Most stores offer up a new sale each week. While you’re doing your errands, take a quick look to see if anything your child will need is in flyer.

Shop for your child early – I shop for school supplies early. This is where the “early bird catches the worm” theory works. You can always find sales online or in store. I do it super early and have never regretted it.
