Sanity Saving Tips for Traveling with Kids
With summer now here, many families are planning to travel. Traveling by yourself or with your spouse is wonderful but traveling with the kiddos in tow is a wee bit (ok, a lot) stressful. Here are some ideas to help make family travel a bit easier.
Surprise Gifts to Open During the Ride
Before you leave for your trip, wrap a few little surprises to be unwrapped each hour during your trip and then open one small surprise every hour or two along the way.
Old toys they haven’t seen in awhile
Easy-to-make craft supplies
Coloring books and crayons
Different Snack Containers
Try using different snack containers like Sand Pails, Tackle Boxes, or even a Brief Case you’re not using anymore.
Cookie Sheets are not just for Cookies!
Pack a few old cookie sheets. These can double as trays when they snack or an activity table to hold crayons, silly putty, play doh and more.
A Bag of Things to Do
When my daughter was younger and we had a long trip to take, I would always bring along a Bag of Things to Do. This bag was filled with things to keep her entertained during the car ride. This bag included things like: crayons, coloring books, magnetic dolls, books and other small items she could play with.
The Grabber Tool
You know that tool that people use to reach things out of their way? You might think it silly or just plain weird, but believe me it will come in handy when your child drops their GI Joe or La La Loopsy doll out of your reach while you’re on the highway. Trust me on this!
