A kids’ Christmas party can be a lot of fun; for the kids and for the adults! Here are some great tips to help you throw an amazing Christmas party without breaking the bank!

1 – Have a Cookie Exchange:2

This a so much fun and it’s a frugal way to have a gathering over the holidays. Everyone brings two types of cookies (their fav of course), and a container. The idea is to bring enough to share at the event and some to trade and take home. No need to go all out and get expensive appetizers and things of that nature. The very best part will be that everybody leaves with something. Plus, it will give you a chance to get to know the shy new neighbor girl across the street.

2 – Opt for a Tree Trimming Party:2

Your tree needs to get decorated. Invite some friends over with their kids and go to town on the tree. Play some fun Christmas music, serve some punch, finger foods and simple little snacks and you will have a fabulously simple, frugal party the kids will enjoy.

3 – Do a Potluck: 2

This will save you loads of cash and you also get to try different recipes. It’s a lot less work than having to prepare a huge meal for a lot of people. Have each family bring enough for themselves plus two. Spread it out buffet style and use paper plates, plastic utensils and paper cups. This will make clean up much easier.

4 – Do a Dessert Evening:2

If you would rather have a dessert thing, try a dessert buffet. To keep it nice and frugal, ask each guest to bring a dessert to share. All you need to get is drinks and some appies like cheese and crackers or make a veggie/fruit platter. Try serving spiced cider, hot teas, coffee, or cocoa.

5 – Host an Open House:2

This may be just what you are looking for. Have people come and go as they please during certain hours and serve light snacks and drinks. Have a bunch of games ready for when families with kids come by. This is a great chance to get to know some other families that you would not have come across other wise and you make some new friends.
