How to Ease Back into the School Routine
Getting your child back into routine for school is not always a pleasant task, but alas; it needs to be done. It’s like saying good-bye to summer and no one wants to do that. Here are some tips on how to help your children ease back into the school routine.
It is very important to set a particular bedtime and a wake-up time for your child that allows them proper rest before school starts up again. Try easing into routine by putting them to bed about 15 mins earlier for a few days, then another 15 mins from there until you are back at their school-time bedtime. Sleep is very important to your child’s health.
Plan Ahead for Healthy Meals
When school starts up again, activities like sports and dance classes are starting up again as well. They will be busy and so will you! Try meal planning, it really does work. You’re not scrambling looking for something quick to make and the likely hood of ordering out will decrease and save you money. (Who doesn’t want to save money?)
Try Not to Take on Too Much
With all those extra activities that will pop up, it’s easy to become over committed. Try not to over schedule yourself to the point that you feel like you are being pulled in 6 different directions. This can lead to unnecessary stress on you and your children.
Try to Schedule Doctor Appointments during Summer Break
It kind of sounds like a broken record but it will save missed days of school and work when everything is up and roaring again. Schedule annual check-ups, dentist visits, eye appointments, etc – over the summer break. The less you and your child miss the better.
Pick Out Clothes Before Bedtime
This seems like such an easy task to do and sometimes you will forget. It will save you time and stress if you and your children lay out your clothes you want to wear for the next day before you go sleep. You’re not scrambling in the morning to try and find that pink shirt she wanted to wear while trying to get breakfast on the table at the same time!
