Fall Health Tips for Your Family Article
With fall and school around the corner, your family’s health is key! What are some things you, as a parent or guardian, can do to help keep your family healthy this fall? Here are a few tips!
Tip #1) Tea Tree Oil
With a new school year approaching, it’s imperative to try and keep lice out of your home. Add a few drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil in your child’s shampoo. The tea tree oil deters head lice.
Tip #2) Keep Plenty of Fruit and Veggies Around
This is a great tip! Keep your counters stocked with fruit and veggies. This will help encourage everyone (not just yourself) to eat and enjoy healthier snacks which will have your family enjoying good nutrition that assists the immune system.
Tip #3) Drink Lots of Water
We all know the health benefits of drinking water; clear, smooth skin, better digestion and so on. Having your family drink lots of water can also help flush out toxins and sugars.
Tip #4) Keep Tissues Available
With fall weather coming, you’ll want to keep extra tissues or toilet paper around to help eliminate the spread of colds, viruses and such. Sneezes can send germs far if you don’t cover the sneeze. Keep tissues handy!
Tip #5) Wash Your Hands
Make sure everyone washes their hands frequently. Wash before you eat, after shopping and especially after going to the bathroom! You would be surprised how many people don’t wash their hands after using a bathroom!
Tip #6) Get Lots of Sleep
This one can be tough! Getting the proper amount of rest will help your family fight off sickness. If you have little ones, try the no screen rule. This states that all screens from electronics should be turned off at least an hour and half before bed. Quiet the brain by reading or listening to music. Less stimulation can slow the brain for rest and sleep.
Tip #7) Keep Carpets and Rugs Clean
Believe it or not, your carpet can hold more than four times its weight in dirt! The best bet is to make sure your floors are cleaned once a day or every other day. Can you imagine what is all in there?
Tip #8) Eliminate Sodas/Energy Drinks
Ok, we all know that soda and energy drinks are not good for us. So why would we drink these high sugar drinks that reduce our immune resistance? They contain all sorts of chemicals and sugars that a body doesn’t need and I’m sure you have found out they are VERY addicting!
Tip #9) Exercise
One of the best ways to make sure your family stays healthy this fall is exercise as a family. This can be anything from walking the dog to doing yard work or even playing a game of tag or raking up leaf piles and jumping in. There are literally millions of ways to get some exercise and fresh air.
Tip #10) Keep Your Bathroom and Kitchen Clean
Few areas in your home harbor more germs and bacteria than your kitchen and bathroom. In fact, most germs are found in the toilet bowl, bathtub, bathroom sink, kitchen drain & sink, and kitchen sponge. Keeping these bacteria breeding grounds clean will go a long way towards keeping your family healthy.
