When we have Thanksgiving gatherings, the kids can easily get bored. Why not have a few Thanksgiving themed games prepared to keep them busy? Here are a few suggestions:

Turkey Tag: This doesn’t take a long time to make. 1

Materials Needed:

Clothespins, paint (different colors for each person), googly eyes, orange and red foam sheets (self adhesive is awesome), glue gun.

You will need 3 clothes pins and a different color paint for each person. Paint the pins, just one side. While the pins are drying, cut out a orange beak and a red gobbler for each turkey pin. Once the paint is dry, apply the beaks first, lay down a thin line of glue right above the beak and stick on the eyes. That’s it.

To play the game, the goal is to be the last person standing with at least one turkey pin still on. Each player can stick 3 pins anywhere on their clothing. Once everyone is ready, have them spread out. The game is played like tag but the goal is to try and remove the other players’ turkeys without losing your own. Last person with a pin wins.

Turkey Bowling:  This is simple and easy; the kids will have tons of fun bowling the turkeys over.1

Materials Needed:
– A set of plastic bowling pins
– Glue gun
– Felt pieces (orange, brown, green and red)

You simply cut the felt pieces into sets of feathers and eyes and glue them onto the bowling pins. You then get a football or ball of some sort and play turkey bowling. Easy peasy!

Potato Sack Races:

This is an old favorite. All you need is a bunch of old sack bags and everyone races from start to finish. Don’t forget to take pictures and video if you can.

Pumpkin Run:1

This one is similar to the sack races but in this race, everyone has a tiny pumpkin on their head and you race from start to finish with it on your head. If your pumpkin falls, you have to start over again.

Bobbing For Apples:

I guess I’m just feeling nostalgic this evening. I remember bobbing for apples at family gatherings and having so much fun doing it!

Pie Eating Contest:

This is more for the whole family but I’m just throwing it in there for poops and giggles, lol.

3-Legged Race:

Mind you, this one only works if you have enough people. You partner up as many couples as you can. Tie their opposite legs together and see which couple reaches the finish line first.
